Spend a morning in the rainforest of La Fortuna and discover the region’s incredible diversity of birds. Accompanied by a certified naturalist guide who specializes in birds, you’ll hike along carefully selected trails to observe amazing species, including toucans, trogons, and hummingbirds.

During the expedition, we’ll explore forests, gardens, open areas, trails, and areas near the river, allowing us to encounter a wide variety of species and observe different behaviors all along the same route. This experience is designed to let you enjoy nature, learn about birds, and take excellent photographs. The region is home to an estimated 400 bird species, and during a morning of birdwatching, it’s possible to spot around 50 to 80 species, depending on weather conditions and bird activity. Itinerary

6:00 a.m. Departure from downtown La Fortuna (from the hotel) 6:30 a.m. Birdwatching along the Castillo route 8:00 a.m. Breakfast at Arenal Observatorio Lodge (not included) 8:30 a.m. Visit to the Tangaras Lookout 9:30 a.m. Walk through the gardens 11:00 a.m. Hike through the rainforest 12:00 p.m. Birdwatching activity ends 12:30 pm Lunch at a local restaurant (not included) 2:00 pm Return to the hotel (End of the tour)
